Wings exists to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through social, vocational and residential programs guided by principles of the Bible. This mission is executed through two main branches: Wings Programs and Wings Enterprises. Both work cohesively to support and benefit the other.
The Wings Program takes place Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Friday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. This program is offered to individuals with special needs, ages 18 and up. Program attributes include volunteer and vocational training, art production, bible study and life skills training, as well as cooking classes and other independence training.
Wings Event Center
The Wings Event Center is a special events venue available for weddings, parties, and other special events. All proceeds from the Event Center are used to further the mission of Wings. The Events Center is also used as vocational training for members of Wings.
Wings Social Club
The Wings Program includes a Social Club which is a monthly social event. The Wings Social Club is offered to individuals with special needs, ages 18 and up. Club members enjoy a number of events, including movie nights, holiday dances, picnics, and other seasonal activities.
Wings In The Community
As part of our Day Program, members can choose two programs that benefit the community outside of Wings. Wings Serves gets members in the volunteer spirit by packing hygiene and school supply kits that benefit other local nonprofits. Spreading Our Wings gets members out in the community doing volunteer work at other local nonprofits.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through social, vocational and residential programs guided by principles of the Bible.
Our Vision is to provide a community in Oklahoma where individuals can:
- Reach the full potential of all God created them to be
- Live healthy, satisfying and enjoyable lives
- Grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually
- Feel safe and independent
- Develop meaningful productive job skills
- Hold real jobs in the community’s own business enterprises
- Experience the pride of contributing to own support
- Provide educational opportunities for residents to continue developing their skills and talents
As a way to expand our spheres of outreach and impact more people with our program, we have formed a group of local community leaders and noteworthy individuals to promote and champion the cause of Wings. A Wings Champion is an advocate, an ambassador, and an ardent supporter of the mission and goals of Wings. We are truly thankful for the support and involvement of each Champion.
Cheri Weaver joined the Wings staff in October of 2016. She is married to Brian and they have one daughter, Courtney, son In law, Jeremy, and three grandchildren. Cheri holds a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and taught in the public school system. Later she joined the staff at Crossings Community Church as Director of Children’s Ministry. After her licensure and Ordination, Weaver began Crossings Christian Preschool and Kindergarten and completed a Masters Degree in Educational Administration, building a volunteer ministry in 2002.
Wings has been a passion for Cheri since she first heard about the need from friends and later attended a Wings tour. Through teaching and ministry Cheri likes to build on individual’s abilities; not disabilities.
