Cheri Weaver – Executive Director

Cheri Weaver joined the Wings staff in October of 2016. She is married to Brian and they have one daughter, Courtney, son In law, Jeremy, and two grandchildren. Cheri holds a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and first taught 5th grade in Oklahoma City Schools. Later she joined the staff at Crossings Community¬† Church as Director of Children’s Ministry. After her licensure and Ordination, Weaver began Crossings Christian Preschool and Kindergarten and completed a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2002. She also developed several special programs, camps, special events, and self contained classes for children with special needs while Children’s Pastor at Crossings for 17 years. One of her proudest accomplishments during her time with Crossings was the research and development of the Crossings Volunteer Ministry which includes over 2600 individuals finding their purpose serving within the church and in the community.

Wings has been a passion for Cheri since she first heard about the need from friends and later attended a Wings tour. Through teaching and ministry Cheri likes to build on individuals abilities; not disabilities.

Program Staff

Brittany Whitney Program Assistant

Brittany Whitney joined the Wings staff in August of 2014. After graduating from UCO in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Family Life Education, Brittany worked as an assistant youth director at Heritage Baptist Church until 2012, when she was blessed with the opportunity to spend 2 years in Paris with the International Mission Board, working as a language instructor to Moroccan immigrants. Brittany has also spent time serving at Camp Barnabas, as well as cultivating several friendships through the Miracle League of Edmond.

When she’s not at Wings, Brittany loves spending time with her best friend and husband Jacob, and her dog Squally. Brittany cherishes her work at Wings and desires for each member to always know their worth and that they are loved and valued.

Kara DuncanProgram Assistant

Kara Duncan has spent the majority of her career working with the special needs community. Earning her Bachelors Degree in Special Education from Northeastern State University, she worked as an instructor with Reading for Kids, and later took a position as a teacher with Pathways Adult Learning Center in Tulsa. She joined the Wings staff in September of 2014, working as a Program Assistant and the Social Club Coordinator.

Kara loves to spend time with her family: husband J.T., daughters Ava and Jaclyn, and dogs Stewie and Lily. Kara loves investing her energy into the programs of Wings, with the hope and belief that each member will reach their full potential.

Krista Martony – Program Assistant

Originally from Goleta, California, Krista moved to Oklahoma in 2010 to attend Oklahoma Christian University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Family Studies in 2014. She spent her final year of school volunteering in the Wings Day Program, before joining the staff as a Program Assistant in June of 2014.

Krista enjoys loving and serving others, and has spent time volunteering with the Joyful Sounds Choir and developing friendships in the Miracle League of Edmond. As a Program Assistant, Krista desires to help each member be all God wants them to be, realizing their full potential and worth as capable, important, and loved members of the community.

Krista enjoys sports, spending time with her dog Nellie, and spending time with friends.

Salem GulloProgram Assistant

Salem joined the Wings staff in January of 2012. Prior to his time at Wings, Salem spent 4 summers working at Camp Barnabas as both a Cabin Lead, as well as Head Cook, cultivating a passion for the special needs community. During his time at Wings, Salem has drawn from his passions in art, cooking, and teaching to invest in the members and programs of Wings.

As a member of the Wings staff, Salem works each day with the desire to see each member embrace their worth and ability. He believes in creating a thriving community for adults with special needs where they have the opportunity to create, contribute, and excel.

Salem loves spending his free time with his best friend Tierney, and pursuing his passions in art, food, and music.
