FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT [PT]

Job Title:  Financial Accountant [Part-Time]

Reports to:  Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day financial activity, including tuition billings, daily cash receipts and disbursement, fundraising event revenues and expenses, coordinating and recording payroll with the third-party service provider, preparation of monthly and annual NFP GAAP compliant financial statements of the organization, preparation of 1099 documents to be distributed at year end and coordination of the annual audit and preparation of the Form 990 with the external auditors.  Financial Accountant will also work closely with the Executive Director and Finance Committee Chair in executing the above activities and with the preparation of the annual budget and reporting to the Board of Directors.

*Part-Time Position [approx. 25 hours/wk – times flexible as agreed upon with E.D. and Board Finance Chair]

Tasks:

  • Cash receipts and cash disbursements processing
  • Billing of monthly Member tuition
  • Follow-up on accounts receivable
  • Month-end analysis of accounts and preparation of financial statements
  • Preparation of, and posting of accrual-based journal entries
  • Coordination with Fundraising Committees, Development Director, and Executive Director
  • Working with Finance Committee Chair and other Board designees, as appropriate
  • Coordination with external auditors during annual examination of books/records and 990 prep
  • Help strengthen Wings internal controls – share recommendations with E.D. and Finance Chair
  • Help safeguard assets and streamline financial statement closing procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous accounting experience required – working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred
  • Previous experience with financial statement preparation required – not-for-profit knowledge preferred (separation of unrestricted, restricted, Board designated and Endowment funds)
  • Knowledge of fundraising management systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, computers and printers
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

Credentials & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree and/or 5 years experience in Financial Accounting

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR [FT]

Job Title:  Development Director [Full-Time]

Reports to:  Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Development Director is responsible for strategic leadership in financial development, marketing and communication to advance Wings mission through annual giving, sponsorships, grants, endowment, corporate/individual donors, events and capital campaigns.

  • Ability to recruit, train, lead and work alongside volunteers

Tasks:

  • Secure and lead volunteer fundraising teams
  • Manage budgets, donor tracking systems, database and event logistics
  • Develop contingency plans to meet goals
  • Develop profiles of top businesses
  • Develop relationships with donors and make public speaking appearances
  • Implement promotion and communications plan alongside Marketing Committee
  • Lead according to nonprofit model (volunteers, partners, sponsors, spread mission)
  • Desire to help move Wings to its vision
  • Maintain schedule of events, grants and social media calendar
  • Maintain gift recognition process
  • Maintain professionalism at all times
  • Other duties that may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising/sales techniques
  • Knowledge of fundraising management systems and procedures, techniques and trends
  • Working knowledge of office equipment (ie. computers and printers)

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills – large/small group presentations
