PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR - PERFORMING ARTS

Reports to: Program Coordinator – Instruction

Job Summary: The Program Instructor is responsible for creating an inviting, fun, challenging, and energizing atmosphere for the Day Program offered to Wings Members.

Culture and Mission: Assist in enhancing the lives of adults with Developmental Disabilities

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Responsibilities:

·        Plan, write, and implement educational and vocational curriculum using all three modalities of learning (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic)

·        Complete trimester curriculum goals and objectives, as well as progress grades

·        Create detailed weekly lesson plans and submit for approval at least one week in advance

·        Monitor, track, and share program-specific data monthly

·        Document ISP Members’ progress on an on-going basis to make data-informed decisions

·        Conduct biannual Individual Success Plan updates for ISP Members

·        Implement appropriate behavioral interventions as necessary

·        Collaborate with and lead volunteers in working with Members within their program

·        Transport Members in Wings passenger vans to off-site community partners as necessary

·        Invite program partners to Wings for monthly on-site learning opportunities

·        Facilitate Chapel on rotation basis as needed

·        Produce live performances multiple times/year with Members in their Performing Arts program

·        Ability to maintain professional working relationships with staff, parents, and volunteers

·        Ensure all policies and procedures are implemented and followed by self, Members, and volunteers in your program

·        Support the strategic goals of the Wings organization

·        All other duties as assigned by supervisor, Executive Program Director, or Executive Director

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·        Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

·        Lesson planning experience preferred       

·        Positive attitude

·        Organized, attention to detail, flexible and adaptable

·        Leadership and communication skills

·        Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills

·        Comfortable leading, as well as being a team player 

Requirements:

·        Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary

·        Continued education training [offered by organization]

·        Ability to work with and empower volunteers to increase capacity

·        Meet physical requirements to safely perform assigned duties

·        Ability to drive a 15-passenger van

Qualifications & Experiences:

·        Passion for Developmental Disabilities community

·        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or prior experience working with the Developmental Disabilities community
